How to vote in Wasaga Beach
Monday 26 October 2026, with online voting open from 1 October. Three ways to do it, and about four weeks to find one that suits you.
Wasaga Beach chooses its council once every four years. Last time, fewer than half the people who could vote did.
It is closer than people think
Voting runs from 1 October to 8:00 p.m. on Monday 26 October. There is more than one way to do it.
- 23,836 people were eligible to vote here in 2022.
- 11,675 of them did.
- 12,161 did not. More people stayed home than voted.
Turnout was 48.98 per cent, and the list will be longer this time because the town keeps growing. The number of people who can vote goes up on its own. The number who do is the part that does not.

Who is eligible
All four have to be true.
- A Canadian citizen.
- At least 18 years old.
- Not prohibited from voting by law.
- Living in Wasaga Beach, or the owner or tenant of property here.
What if I do not live here year round?
Owning or renting is enough on its own. If you have a place in Wasaga Beach and live somewhere else the rest of the year, you can vote here, though you may only vote once in this town.
Am I on the voters’ list?
Elections Ontario keeps the list. Checking takes a minute, and it is worth doing now rather than at the ballot.

How to vote
Online
1 to 26 October
From anywhere, at any hour. The Town sends what you need to the address on the voters’ list, which is the other reason to check that it is right.
In person, early
5, 14 and 17 October
Paper ballot, counted by tabulator, at the three advance days above. Usually quieter than election day.
In person, on the day
26 October
Wasaga Stars Arena, 544 River Road West, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Online voting is open until 8:00 p.m. as well.
What do I bring?
Identification showing your name and address. You may need two pieces to cover both. The Town’s list of what it accepts is long, and a good deal more counts than a driver’s licence.
What is on the ballot
| Office | How many | You choose |
|---|---|---|
| Mayor | 1 seat | One name |
| Deputy Mayor | 1 seat | One name |
| Councillor | 5 seats | Five names |
| School Board Trustee | 1 seat | One name |
| Ward system question | 1 question | Yes or No |
The question asks whether Wasaga Beach should move to a ward system, and it is worth answering. In 2018 the same sort of question was asked, most of those who answered preferred the system we have, and the result was not binding because too few people answered it. A question left blank is still a decision.
One more thing
This is a candidate’s page, not the Town’s. It is here to get people to the ballot, and the Town of Wasaga Beach is the authority on every detail of how that works. If anything on this page and anything on the Town’s election page disagree, the Town is right.
